Basic Information:
My name is Selga and i’m a 27 year old female.

Schooling:
My experience with animal care starts when i did work experience at a vet clinic in high school. I realised it was the type of field i wanted to work in and immediately started doing my CERT 1 in animal care the same year. over a few years i went on to complete my CERT 2 & 3 in animal care. I completed half of my CERT 4 whilst working at a vet clinic.

Work:
I worked as a veterinary nurse for 2 and a half years which is where i got to learn many lessons and techniques especially involving medicine and behavioural work during that time. Sadly i had to stop being a nurse and instead created Selga’s animal care in 2018

Volunteer work:
Most of my volunteer work regarding animals comes from Fauna rescue where I took in mostly possums, reptiles and ducklings.
I also helped to raise a litter of puppies at the guide dog center.

Selga’s animal care:

During my time doing this job i have found myself focusing and working mostly with Bulldogs, Anxious/Timid animals, Reactive animals, Large breeds, animals with high medical needs, diabetic care and just those animals that might need a little extra cared or consideration.
i have also been involved in the Pre natal care for 5 Litters to which my previous experience of Neonatal care experience has really come in handy.

Don’t worry i take those without high needs too!

What do we do all day?

I often get asked if i get bored and what i do all day when i’m caring for animals and i want to explain that when i’m there its for your pets. I’m there to be a best friend and to make it like a fun holiday for your pet whilst your on your own holiday.
We spent a lot of time in their favourite places, outside and just on the floor together. I get to learn their personalities through every new activity we do and can adjust their care needs.

Every activity through the day whether its giving them breakfast, a walk, play time or just sitting on the floor together watching a movie and petting them as they chew their favourite toy i endeavour to make it as enjoyable as possible for them

You may hear me say things like “They’ll tell me what they want i’m sure” or “your pet wanted to so we did” or even “ yeah they let me know” as a lot of my care involves getting to know them in a way that by the end of our stay i know just what each look or little bark means.
